Job Opportunities
While we don’t use biotech job boards, we always have a variety of jobs available in biometrics, data science, pharmacometrics, RWE/HEOR, and other areas. These jobs can be contract and permanent positions. The opportunities are at different levels and in varying locations across the U.S., many are remote.
Below are the key functional areas along with the general criteria for each:
Biostatistics: PhD (strongly preferred) or master’s degree in Biostatistics or Statistics, and past job experience in biotechnology. Experience with statistics in clinical trials Phases I-IV within biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO.
Data Management: Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Statistics, or other related degrees. Experience with data management, good clinical practices (GCP) and regulatory guidelines, medical terminology, clinical research, and clinical trials. Jobs in this field also require experience with Electronic Data Capture (EDC) systems, as well as Pharmaceutical, CRO or other related industry work.
Data Science: PhD or master’s degree in data science or other advanced degree in life sciences. Experience in real-world evidence and familiarity with health economics/epidemiology, and quantitative science such as health outcome modeling. Experience in EMR/Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases. Use of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and statistical languages such as R/Matlab/SAS/SQL/Hadoop/Python.
Epidemiology: These jobs require a PhD in biostatistics, epidemiology, health economics and outcomes research, health policy, or similar. Formal training in Epidemiology/Health Services Research. Experience working in observational research within the life sciences industry or relevant academic, government, or consulting environment.
Pharmacometrics: PharmD or PhD in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical sciences. Pharmacology, or Life sciences. Experience in applying PMX to drug development programs. Some companies may be open to experience from regulatory agencies or academia.
RWE/HEOR: PhD (strongly preferred) or master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or Health Economics. Experience in HEOR, Market Access, or RWE within the biopharmaceutical industry.
Programming: Master’s and/or bachelor’s degree in Statistics or Computer Science. Statistical or clinical programming experience in clinical trials Phases I-IV within biotech, pharmaceutical, or CRO.
